Excavator Buckets: The Versatile Attachment for Heavy Machinery

crusher bucket

Excavator buckets are an essential attachment for plant equipment used in construction, mining, demolition, and other industries. They are perfect for jobs that require digging, hauling, and moving materials. These buckets are designed to fit various types of diggers, ranging from mini diggers to large diggers, and are available in different sizes, shapes, and configurations to suit specific applications.

In this week’s blog post we take a look at various types of buckets available from Masterhitch, and why you should be investing in them for your fleet.

What are Excavator Buckets Used For?

Excavator buckets are used for various tasks, including:

Digging and excavating:

The primary function of an excavator bucket is to dig and excavate soil, rocks, and other materials from the ground. These buckets are designed to be strong and durable, allowing them to break through tough and compact materials.

Loading and hauling:

Once the materials have been dug up, the digger bucket can be used to load them onto a truck or other transport vehicle. The bucket’s capacity and shape will determine the amount of material that can be loaded and how easily it can be moved.

Demolition:

Excavator buckets can also be used for demolition tasks, such as breaking down concrete structures or removing debris. The bucket’s sharp edges and strong construction make it ideal for these types of tasks.

Grading and levelling:

They can also be used for grading and levelling tasks, such as preparing a site for construction or landscaping. The bucket’s shape and design can be customised for these specific tasks, such as with a grading bucket that has a flat bottom and a smooth edge.

Landscaping:

Excavator buckets can be used for various landscaping tasks. For example, digging holes for trees and shrubs or creating a pond. The bucket’s versatility makes it a useful tool for a wide range of landscaping projects.

Types of Excavator Buckets

There are several types of excavator buckets available on the market, each designed for specific applications. The most common types of buckets include:

General purpose buckets:

These buckets are all-round and can be used for a wide range of applications.  For example, digging, loading, and hauling. They come in various sizes and capacities, depending on the size of thedigger. Our customers can select standard pin buckets, or even use our Masterhitch buckets which are fitted with our unique hooker quick hitch design.

Tilting buckets:

Tilting buckets are designed with a tilting mechanism. Allowing the bucket to pivot 90 degrees and rotate horizontally up to 45 degrees. This makes it easier to dig and level on uneven terrain. If you have a 7, 12, 20 or 22 tonne digger, then Masterhitch have tilting buckets readily available.

Riddle buckets:

Also known as skeleton buckets, riddle buckets are designed with a grid-like structure. Allowing small debris and dirt to fall through, making them ideal for sifting through soil and other materials. Here at Masterhitch, we can make riddle buckets to fit 7, 14, 21 & 30 tonne diggers.

Ejector buckets:

Ejector buckets are used by operators within the forestry and renewable sector. The main use is to pick up and safely transport light materials such as wood chips, to load a truck or for the purpose of biomass boilers. The use of hydraulics in the movable wall makes dumping materials easy and time efficient.

Introducing the Masterhitch Roof Truss Jib Attachment

Roof truss jib

The latest attachment to join the Masterhitch stock list is the Roof Truss Jib attachment. After receiving multiple enquiries from companies within the housing industry, we have added the perfect attachment to fit your telehandlers. Find out more about the roof truss jib attachment, and why you should invest in one for your plant fleet.

WHAT IS A ROOF TRUSS, AND WHY IS IT USED?

Before we cover the fantastic features of the roof truss jib attachment, it is important to understand what a roof truss is and where it is commonly used.

The roof truss is vital for the safety and support of the materials used to build the roof on any home. Typically, it will support slate or tiles. The truss itself is generally made from either timber or steel and it is then bolted firmly together. A roof truss is incredibly versatile when it comes to construction projects, they can be used for both small and large scale structures including sheds, housing developments and even large buildings such as offices or auditoriums.

Types of roof trusses available

Currently, there are three different types of roof trusses to choose from including:

  • Simple triangular roof truss
  • A planar truss which is two dimensional
  • A space frame truss which is three dimensional

No matter the type of roof truss you opt for our Masterhitch roof truss jib attachment will be able to safely lift up and transport it.

Benefits of using a roof truss

Accuracy is guaranteed when using a roof truss as they are designed using computer software, and assembled in a factory. Therefore they are beneficial to use over other alternative methods.

Another benefit is that they are time and cost effective. When manufacturing roof trusses they can be erected quickly and eliminate the requirement of steel beams and purlin walls. Due to the sheer size and triangular shape of the roof trusses, they are more often than not constructed off site and then transported to site. Meaning that labour costs are also kept to a minimum.

This is where machinery is then required to safely lift the truss to where it needs to be placed.

WANT TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE MASTERHITCH ROOF TRUSS JIB?

The Masterhitch roof truss jib comes as standard with a quick hitch facility, making lifting them simple, easy and time efficient. We have also designed the attachment to include a hook and shackle for safe transportation on any construction site.

The roof truss jib attachment needs to be strong, sturdy and capable of withstanding a strenuous amount of weight. This is why we have designed the attachment to safely lift up to 750kg, and it is made of British Standard Steel to promote longevity and durability.

roof truss jib attachment

What size telehandlers will it fit?

The roof truss jib attachment will fit 9.5 metre to 20 metre JCB telehandlers. It will also fit Manitou telehandlers from 9 to 18 metres. Should you have requirements outside of our standard stocked sizes, we would be happy to discuss bespoke manufacturing the attachment to fit your machine.

OTHER PLANT ACCESSORIES AVAILABLE TO BUY FROM MASTERHITCH

Alongside the roof truss jib attachment, we also have plenty of attachments that would be suitable for a housing development site.

Tree Shears

Firstly, before the erection of homes begins, the ground will need to be prepared ready for building. Our tree shear attachment is effective when it comes to carrying out landscaping and forestry tasks. As the name suggests it is capable of cutting down undesirable trees and easily removing shrubbery from the ground.

The operator will need to position the attachment so it sits firmly on the ground, in order to clamp onto the base of the tree. The blade will then slice through the tree trunk, all whilst maintaining a solid grip on the tree for safety purposes. Despite the simplicity of the single hydraulic ram, it is extremely effective in removing trees.

We have two sizes available, standard tree shears as well as heavy duty tree shears that can cut through trees that are up to 500mm in diameter. How impressive!

If you’re interested in buying tree shears for your machinery, then make sure you check out the attachment in action

Concrete Pourer

The concrete pourer is another attachment that is available exclusively from Masterhitch Europe Ltd. When you buy a concrete pourer from us, you’ll be investing in an attachment that will distribute concrete to large areas on a construction site.

The attachment has been designed with not one but two spouts for the operator to use, promoting increased visibility. The pourer can then be tilted both forward and backwards depending on where the concrete needs to be spread.

If you own an excavator between 8 and 24 tonnes, then the concrete pourer can be fitted to the quick hitch. Anyone outside of these sizes, we can bespoke manufacture it to suit your machine.

Digger Attachments To Use In The Snow

digger in snow

When the winter weather hits make sure your plant equipment is prepared, with the very best digger attachments. Not only do operators need to make sure their attachments are in excellent condition, but using specific tools can actually help during the winter months.

With the right digger attachments, you could be working all year round. Find out more about our top plant accessories to use in the snow.

WHICH DIGGER ATTACHMENTS SHOULD YOU INVEST IN, IN THE WINTER?

If you’re considering expanding your fleet, then make sure the following digger attachments are on your list. Just think, if you invest in these attachments you can ditch traditional snow clearing equipment such as shovels, and plough your way through even the snowiest of days on site.

Snow Plough

Of course, at the top of the list is a snow plough attachment. We have had many years of experience making this digger attachment for our sister company, H. E. SERVICES (Plant Hire) Ltd. The snow plough accessory is great for clearing snow, as the name suggests. This particular attachment can be bespoke made to fit your machinery. Whether you have a small mini digger, or a machine on a much larger scale we can help!

If you want to find out more about the snow plough then get in touch today.

Digger Buckets

You’ll have plenty of choice when it comes to digger buckets. The fantastic thing about buckets is that they can be used for such a versatile amount of projects. Especially tackling snow!

Let’s start with the standard pin bucket. It does what it says on the tin! This bucket will often come as standard with most diggers, but it is certainly an underrated attachment. If you need to shovel snow out of the way quickly, then it could be more time efficient to use a bucket rather than manually moving it.

We would also highly recommend investing in an ejector bucket. If you want something a bit more upmarket, then this bucket will be great for any construction project, or snow removal. If you’re struggling to dump out any frozen snow, or ice blocks from the bucket then the moving wall powered by hydraulics will prevent any issues. The ejector bucket can be seen in action here

Currently our ejector buckets have been manufactured to fit JCB and Manitou telehandlers. If you would like to have a similar attachment made for your digger, then get in touch with the Masterhitch team today.

Concrete pourer

You may be wondering why we have considered the concrete pourer a great attachment to use in the snow. On this occasion you won’t be using it to spread concrete, any guesses?

For those operators thinking outside the box, this digger attachment could be filled up with hot water. If you have a large amount of snow or ice that needs melting, pouring the hot water from either of the two spouts could save a lot of time. The Masterhitch concrete pourer can be made to fit machines from 8 to 24 tonnes, as they are typically the standard size of machines found on site. Anything outside of these sizes, we can still manufacture for you.

Don’t forget to follow all health and safety guidelines on site if you do plan on clearing snow this way!

Root Plate Attachment

Another unique digger accessory you need on your fleet is the root plate attachment. Originally, this attachment was designed specifically to aid a landscaping company in moving shrubbery. Nevertheless, it could also be used to quickly shovel snow from paths. If your operating skills are second to none, then using a digger to clear paths will be an easy task!

The root plate attachment is completely bespoke, so you won’t find it anywhere else on the market. We stock the root plate to fit a 20 tonne digger such as a Komatsu PC210. Again, if you want it to fit a smaller or larger machine, we would be happy to help.

Bespoke Projects for Masterhitch in 2022!

Masterhitch bespoke projects

2022 has been a great year for Masterhitch when it comes to bespoke projects. We’ve had plenty of companies approach us, wanting us to create some unique digger attachments for their machines. We love getting creative and designing something completely unique to suit a customer’s needs. Check out some of our most recent bespoke projects below.

CRADLE AND TRANSPORT FRAME FOR BERRYRANGE

At the beginning of the year we were commissioned by Berryrange, a company specialising in sheet piling and other engineering services. The initial plan was to create a bespoke cradle that was capable of attaching to a Kobelco SK35 LC digger. This particular digger attachment would be attached via a quick hitch. An auger/drill could be used safely.

In addition to this bespoke project, a transport storage frame for the auger drive unit was also required.

View the finished products for Berryrange here

BESPOKE STEEL TABLES

The next bespoke project for Masterhitch was to create two steel framed table structures. Which were going to be used for display purposes on two of our customer’s sites.

The tables were manufactured using British Standard Steel to ensure they were solid and sturdy enough to withstand the weight of a crushed car. The tables each weigh around 760kg. The car weighs around 1.5 – 2 tonnes. Once the crushed cars had been positioned safely on the top, a Perspex cover was then positioned over the top to provide additional support and protection. On one side of the table, there is also a custom made display panel. This will provide information about why the car had been crushed and a before photo.

Steel Table Structure loading

The tables came in at 2 x 1.5 metres tall and were of a great weight. For security reasons we are unable to disclose the customer we manufactured these tables for, however we loved being involved in this project!

ROOT PLATE ATTACHMENT FOR RUSKINS

We have not only created attachments for the construction industry, we have also dipped our toes into the agricultural sector. This year we had the pleasure of working with Ruskins Tree and Landscapes Ltd

The team at Masterhitch were approached by the landscaping company to design and create, not one but three root plate attachments for a digger. The attachments we made were big enough to fit a Komatsu PC210 excavator, however we can also make them in a specific size to suit any machine.

Root Plate Attachment

What was the attachment used for?

The design of this particular attachment is similar to using a large spade. It was used originally to remove and relocate unwanted shrubbery, specifically a large hedgerow. The hedge was cut into sections, and the attachment then dug deep below the root system to remove it and transplant easily in another area of choice.

If you need something similar produced then have a read of our blog post to find out more, and view the CAD footage of the attachment in the development stage.

FORK EXTENSIONS FOR VOLKERFITZPATRICK LTD

Volkerfitzpatrick Ltd are one of the UK’s leading engineering and construction companies. Specialising in providing services to the commercial, education, rail and aviation sectors.

During 2022, Volkerfitzpatrick Ltd approached Masterhitch to create a fork carriage to fit a Manitou MHT10180 telehandler. The company was completing work in the Falkland Islands, and the existing forks they were using were not long enough to pick up and transport containers safely. The heavy duty fork carriages weighed 1000kg and we had to make sure they would fit into a shipping container for its journey out to the Falkland Islands.

Which Bespoke Excavator Attachments Work Best with a Mini Digger?

digger

The mini digger is a machine that is often overlooked due its size. However don’t let that stop you realising how powerful it actually can be. Especially with the right bespoke excavator attachments!

This week we take a look at how a mini digger could be used to its full potential, which digger attachments are currently available from Masterhitch, and how you could be getting your hands on a fantastic used mini digger for sale.

WHAT IS A MINI DIGGER?

Firstly, it’s important to highlight what a mini digger is, and what it is regularly used for.

A mini digger is a machine that weighs under 4535kg. Anything over this would be considered as either a midi digger or even a large or tracked excavator. With this in mind, some of the most popular mini diggers currently available include the Komatsu PC26 MR-3 coming in at just under 3000kg, and the Kubota KX61-3.

The benefits of using a mini digger often outweigh the disadvantages. For example, they are ideal for home projects as they do not require the operator to hold a licence. Mini diggers are also great to use in built up or residential areas due to their lower noise levels. Lastly, they are fantastic to transport due to their size!

So what is a mini digger used for?

Similar to any other excavator, mini diggers can complete pretty much the same type of work, but just on a smaller scale!

Mini diggers are most commonly used for:

  • Light demolition work
  • Landscaping
  • Construction projects
  • Tree stump removal
  • Home renovations
  • Pool installations

However due to their versatility, mini diggers are typically all-rounder machines that could be beneficial for a lot more!

WHICH BESPOKE EXCAVATOR ATTACHMENTS SHOULD YOU USE ON A MINI DIGGER?

Having a mini digger to hand is a bonus already, without even thinking about bespoke excavator attachments. Why not increase the versatility of the mini digger by adding some bespoke digger attachments to the mix!

Here at Masterhitch Europe Ltd, we pride ourselves on having an excellent stocklist of bespoke excavator and telehandler attachments. Let’s take a look at some of our customer’s favourites below!

Riddle Bucket

A digger isn’t a digger without a bucket. With a huge variety of buckets now available on the market, there is certainly plenty of choice!

We have had a number of enquiries recently from our customers, requiring riddle buckets for their mini diggers. So what is a riddle bucket we hear you ask?

When we think of a riddle bucket, we tend to think of it as a larger sieve. Strangely enough, it does the same thing.  A riddle bucket is perfect for picking up soil and other materials, and efficiently sorting through it. It is often used to separate brick, concrete, stones and other debris from soil in an effortless manner. Can you think of a project that this attachment would save you time and even money?

We can make this type of bucket to fit a 7, 14, 21 and 30 tonne excavator as standard. However we can also make a bucket to fit your mini digger. All of our buckets are made using the best, top grade components ensuring durability and longevity.

Power Rakes

Another fantastic digger attachment that we would recommend investing in are power rakes. This is typically another attachment that operators would assume are only made for larger excavators. We often get asked this question by our customers!

Power rakes can also be known as land clearance rakes. It will primarily differ depending on the type of industry using them. They can be designed with 3 tynes or even 6 tynes, again this will depend on the size of the machine and what it will be used for.

If you’re thinking of adding power rakes to your fleet then then could be used for:

  • Removal of shrubs, brambles and rubbish
  • Sorting through larger materials such as bricks and separating them from soil
  • Ripping up stubborn tree stumps
  • Raking and preparing soil for farming purposes

As a working example, the Masterhitch team had the pleasure of working closely with our sister company, Diggerland UK Theme Parks in order to produce bespoke digger attachments for a selection of their mini digger rides. We created smaller versions of our stocked power rakes, which featured 3 tynes. This attachment was then used on a Komatsu PC14 R-3HS digger to allow the customer to dig for buried treasure. Check it out here!

Breakers

Do you often complete tasks for demolition projects? A breaker attachment could be the perfect addition to your fleet, especially a mini digger!

With this particular type of attachment it could also be used for various machinery including backhoe loaders and even skid steers. If you’ve never heard of a breaker attachment then you can expect to use one for the following tasks:

  • Breaking up concrete, rocks and any other hard materials
  • Demolition projects
  • Road repairs
  • Quarry work

For any plant fleets thinking ahead for future projects, we can make our breaker attachments to suit machines from 1 to 80 tonnes. Whether you need one for a DIY project or a larger scale demolition task, we’ve got you covered!

BUY A USED MINI DIGGER FOR SALE

So we’ve covered a few various bespoke digger attachments that are available at Masterhitch, but let’s talk about the mini digger itself.

Our sister company, BuyADigger, has a handful of mini diggers for sale. All of which are relatively new in age, have low hours on and only one previous owner.

Originally they were purchased for Diggerland UK and H.E. SERVICES (Plant Hire) Ltd, to be used on their fleet. Once they reach 3 years old, new machines are purchased to replace these, and they are then sold on. If you’re thinking of buying a mini digger to go along with your bespoke excavator attachments, then their sales team would be happy to discuss their machines in further detail with you.

The New Masterhitch Crusher Buckets Are Now Available!

Crusher buckets

This week we launched our brand new Masterhitch crusher buckets, and our customers love them already! Whether you work in the construction industry or the quarry sector, the new crusher buckets have been designed with the customer in mind.

If you’re thinking of renewing your fleet, or adding some new digger attachments, then we have plenty of products available to suit you!

WHAT IS A CRUSHER BUCKET?

A crusher bucket, also known as a concrete crusher and even a jaw crusher are used mainly for the crushing of concrete. It is a hydraulic driven attachment that can be easily attached to various diggers.

It has been given its name as it is made up of a jaw crusher and a standard excavator bucket. The steel jaw aspect of the attachment moves back and forth, ultimately crushing the material into small enough pieces that it falls through the bottom of the bucket.

WHAT CAN THEY BE USED FOR?Crusher Bucket

If you are often completing quarrying, mining and demolition work, there’s a high chance that you may have already used a crusher bucket.

Here at Masterhitch Europe Ltd, we make Crusher Buckets to fit the following size machines:

  • 8 tonne
  • 15 tonne

If you would like a crusher bucket manufactured outside of our standard sizes, we would be happy to assist. Our skilled team will be able to create an attachment to fit your machine.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING CRUSHER BUCKETS ON SITE?

There are plenty of advantages to using crusher buckets for companies, and they are guaranteed to make everyday tasks seamless and simple.

Firstly, think about the huge decrease of waste that will end up in landfill sites. With the help of a crusher bucket, materials that would often be dumped can now be crushed down and reused elsewhere. This is also a benefit for most companies too. It will reduce the amount of materials needed for other tasks such as backfilling.

Did we mention that using a crusher bucket is also time saving. Any concrete materials can be crushed on site without the need for transportation. It will also reduce the amount of equipment needed on site, simply by attaching the crusher bucket.

Crusher buckets are also very easy to use and operate. When you use a crusher bucket you will have simplicity at your disposal.

OTHER EXCAVATOR ATTACHMENTS AVAILABLE

Alongside our crusher buckets we have also got a wide range of digger attachments for all of your construction requirements.

Ripper

The Masterhitch ripper attachment is capable of breaking tarmac, concrete and earth. Essentially readying the ground before excavation. It can be made to fit machines from 7 – 45 tonnes as standard.

Concrete Pourer

The concrete pourer is a bespoke attachment, and our variant can only be purchased from Masterhitch. As the name suggests, the concrete pourer can pour out concrete and other liquid materials, with not one, but two spouts located on either side. This particular attachment can be made to fit machines from 8 to 24 tonnes.

Tree Shears

The Masterhitch tree shear is another one of our most recent attachments. If you work within the landscaping industry, then this is certainly a must-have tool on the fleet. The tree shear can cut through and remove trees up to 300mm in diameter. We also have a heavy duty tree shear option available.

Our full list of excavator attachments can be found on our website.

Bespoke Extended Fork Carriages for VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd

Fork Carriages - VolkerFitzpatrick

Masterhitch Europe Ltd have been asked by VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd to bespoke manufacture fork carriages to fit their telehandler. As well as the fork carriages, the skilled team also produced a set of fork extensions in order to complete the task at hand.

THE PROJECT

The fork carriages created for VolkerFitzpatrick weighed 1000kg. As you can imagine, for an attachment this size we had to bespoke manufacture it to suit their requirements. Not only that, we also had to ensure that the fork carriage would fit into a shipping container. It would then be shipped out to the Falkland Islands for their project.

VolkerFitzpatrick were using a Manitou MHT10180 telehandler to move containers around on site. Their standard fork carriage supplied was not wide enough to pick up the containers originally. The team at Masterhitch created fork extensions to ensure the containers were supported properly.

Fork Carriages - VolkerFitzpatrick

WHAT SIZE MACHINE WILL IT FIT?

We understand that every machine is different and that companies have various requirements. Which is why we can bespoke manufacture fork carriages to suit you. Our team will work directly with you to discuss your needs, ultimately providing you with a fork carriage to suit any machine.

WHAT ARE FORK CARRIAGES USED FOR?

Fork carriages are generally an all-rounder attachment that all companies should be using. They are commonly used for:

  • Agricultural work
  • On a construction site
  • In the quarry
  • Everyday work task

When materials need to be lifted and transported elsewhere, fork carriages are very convenient and easy to use.

The benefit of using fork carriages is that you can pick up and drop off tines like any other attachment. Saving the operator time, instead of having to remove them manually.

WHY IS IT WORTH INVESTING INTO TELEHANDLER ATTACHMENTS?

Telehandlers on their own are versatile, easy to use, and are generally a useful machine to have on any construction site. Investing in telehandler attachments, will leave you with the world at your fingertips.

If you invest in a range of buckets, forks, and even cages, your telehandler could work as efficiently as having 3 different types of machinery on site! Not to mention the money and time that will be saved when you choose to invest in telehandler attachments instead.

A telehandler will have more on and off-road capabilities when you invest into various attachments. View our website today to view all of our current attachments.

Increasing Women in Engineering at Masterhitch

women engineering

Last week marked International Women in Engineering Day. An international awareness campaign aiming to highlight the fantastic women who are, literally, building our world. Now, more than ever, we’re seeing women dominating what were once heavily male workplaces. Last year, the Women’s Engineering Society recorded that 14.5% of engineers in the UK were women.

Fast forward to 2022 and that figure has risen to 16.5%. With that in mind, women in engineering are still highly underrepresented within their field. Here at Masterhitch, we design and develop state of the art excavator attachments, quick hitches and bespoke products mainly for our customers within the construction industry.

We are a team of engineering experts, many of whom are women, and today we want to help break down the barriers to encourage more girls and women into engineering careers. This year, International Women in Engineering Day aims to celebrate the amazing work that women engineers around the world are doing to support lives everyday. The event is hosted by The Women’s Engineering Society and this year’s theme is “Inventors and Innovators.”

A recent report from the House of Commons revealed that companies with a higher percentage of female leaders outperformed those dominated by men. In a post-pandemic world, the research shows that women should be supported in pursuing career opportunities in a wide range of industries.

For years women have been underrepresented in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) university courses and occupations. How can we change this?

Why is there a lack of women in engineering?

A big role in creating equal work opportunities lies within education. Throughout history, STEM subjects have typically been considered masculine. This has led to a society of young girls distancing themselves with STEM education.

Data from the Department of Education shows that more girls stated they disliked STEM school subjects than their male peers. In fact, only 33% of girls within this research believed they performed well in STEM subjects, compared to 60% of boys. However, this doesn’t reflect their actual abilities.

The same research shows that 68% of girls achieved great marks when compared to 65% of the boys. This clearly shows that girls are no less capable of pursuing careers they enjoy. And not just ones they believe they are capable of doing.

Encouraging girls to take part in STEM subjects at school will pave the way for them to enter construction, engineering and science-lead fields. Alongside this, having more visible female role models for girls interested in STEM would also help. Women in engineering

Even girls who do enjoy STEM subjects at primary or secondary school are often left without any real life examples of women in engineering. Back in the second world war there was a serious problem with the Rolls Royce Merlin engines. Which would cause them to misfire or cut out.

Despite having a whole team of engineers within the Royal Aircraft Establishment working to fix the problem, no one could. That was until Beatrice Shilling designed a brilliant solution which permanently fixed the engines. Who would have thought that the saviour would be a female engineer rather than her male counterparts?

For girls and young women considering entering a career in engineering, it is vital for them to have role models they can relate to.

The Latest Bespoke Engineering Project By Masterhitch!

Masterhitch Steel Table

Masterhitch has been at it again. The skilled team of engineers have been busy preparing another structure, for yet another bespoke project. This time in the form of two strong steel frame table structures. Find out more about our latest project below!

THE PROJECT

Our customer commissioned Masterhitch to create two solid steel frame table structures that were going to be used for display purposes.

What is the purpose of the table?

A secure, sturdy table was required by our customer as it was going to be used to display a crushed car on top. Once the tables had been successfully delivered, and placed where needed, a crushed car was then put on top. Finally, the next step was to place a Perspex covered over the top of the structure to provide further protection from external sources.

Our customer also requested that we include a solid flat panel on the front of one of the sides. This was used as a display panel to show an image of the car before it had been crushed, and the reason why it was crushed.

How big is the table structure?

We aren’t just talking about any display table, this particular structure was the biggest we have made to date. As a crushed car was being placed on top, we had to make the table to be 2 metres x 1.5 metres.

The table itself also weighed 760kg each, which would be suitable to hold the weight of a 1.5 – 2 ton crushed car. How impressive!

Check out the different stages of manufacturing below, or view our YouTube video here.
