Here at Masterhitch we produce a wide range of excavator attachments, that can either be custom made or bought off the shelf to fit your construction machinery. There are many different types of excavator attachments that we make that can suit your needs and requirements, depending on the type of construction projects you are undergoing. This week we are focusing on the Pipe Lifter attachment. This type of Excavator attachment is used for the rapid and safe way of effectively laying and manoeuvering concrete pipes.
Why are Pipe Lifters used?
Pipe Lifters are best known for being used for construction projects that involve the moving and laying of concrete pipes. They are a bespoke digger attachment
that heightens the level of health and safety on a work site, and is great for offloading piping without the need for manual intervention.
What machines do our Pipe Lifters fit?
At Masterhitch, we can create Pipe Lifters that fit your machines using the MH15 and MH22 Hooker Quick Hitch system, alternatively we can also look at custom manufacturing the digger attachment top fit a standard pin too.
We would recommend the Pipe Lifter attachment to be used on a minimum of a 14 tonne excavator due to the intense weight, it is ideally best suited for 20 tonne excavators, as some concrete piping can be very heavy.
We stock Pipe Lifters for the recommended excavators above, but our specialist engineers are more than happy to custom manufacture these bespoke digger attachments to fit bigger construction machinery, if you have any larger scale projects on the horizon.
How to use Pipe Lifters?
Our pipe lifters are designed and manufactured to make the handling and
manoeuvering of pipes safer. The Pipe Lifter is a direct lifting system, that attaches onto the digger to eliminate the use of any additional straps or fastening equipment.
To use Pipe Lifters, the excavator operator will need to attach the Hooker Quick Hitch to the excavator arm, and then attach the Pipe Lifter to the Quick Hitch system.
The Pipe Lifter works by positioning a metal spike inside the pipe, that is then positioned at the top of the pipe to hold it in a stable position. As the pipe is lifted the weight triggers a spring system which brings down a stabilisation plate on top of the pipe holding it in place. This then tightens the grip on the pipe to prevent it sliding off when it is tilted at extreme angles.
They are a great attachment that improve the health and safety on any construction site as:
- There is no need for an individual to be in any trenches/work spaces whilst the pipes are being laid
- There is no additional equipment needed to keep the pipe in place
- The excavator operator doesn’t need to exit the cab of the excavator
We have put together a YouTube video that focuses on the Pipe Lifter attachment, and why you should choose this particular digger attachment.
