The Project
Masterhitch was approached by Robore cuts and asked to design and manufacture a steel frame for the lighthouse project. This would be used to hold the wire saw system that was used for the demolition of the deteriorated lighthouse.
The Completed Job
Masterhitch designed and manufactured the steel frame to be 18.5 metres tall, 9.5 metres in diameter, and with 8 work levels. The frame, weighing 55 tonnes, was made of steel beams and in multiple sections so it could be reduced in height as the lighthouse column was gradually dismantled. The lighthouse project was faced with tough weather conditions and time pressure, but all parties involved worked hard to ensure the project ran smoothly.
