Masterhitch Mastering Sustainability

Masterhitch team

Since starting in 1994, Masterhitch has been committed to sustainability when making excavator attachments. Due to the current climate we believe it is key to be a master of sustainability. We will take you through the efforts taken by Masterhitch whilst still building high quality products.

ECOMONICAL LIGHTING

Economical lighting is key in sustainability. It can reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Our buildings have LED lighting and light sensors ensuring energy used is low.

LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting is the most popular type of energy-efficient lighting on the market today. Using up to 80% less energy than incandescent bulbs, they can last up to 25 times longer. They are also free of toxic materials and can be easily recycled.

Light sensors detect the amount of light in a given area and adjust the lighting accordingly. Helping to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, these reduce negative effects on the planet. These options make a huge difference aiding Masterhitch strive for sustainability

SOLAR POWER

Solar panels are made up of cells that absorb sunlight and convert it into power. All of the H. E. Group sites use solar power as the primary source of energy. These panels produce an infinite amount of sustainable energy.

BENEFITS OF USING SOLAR POWER

Solar panels do not produce harmful emissions or require fossil fuels. Reducing the need for traditional power sources, solar panels help reduce carbon emissions. They are durable and require little maintenance lasting up to 25 years.

BIOMASS AND GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

Biomass is organic material used as fuel, such as wood and other waste. It can be burned to produce heat or power. Masterhitch’s site utilises biomass boilers, powered using wood chips and other resources. The on-site heating is further improved using ground source heat pumps (GSHP).

GSHPs use the heat stored in the ground to provide heating and cooling. Liquid is passed through a buried loop of pipes absorbing heat from the ground. These are both key elements when striving for sustainability.

BENEFITS OF BIOMASS AND GSHPS

Biomass is a renewable energy source that reduces carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Widely available and sourced locally, it provides an economic boost to local areas.

GSHPs are a renewable energy source with an efficiency of 300-400%. They are quiet and have no external emissions.

WASTE REDUCTION

All supplies used at Masterhitch are sustainably resourced where possible. We encourage staff to bring refillable water bottles and reuse. This reduces our effect on the environment.

BENEFITS OF RECYCLING

Recycling helps to divert waste from landfills and burners. This helps to conserve natural resources by reducing the need for new raw materials. This process uses less energy than producing new products – a key attribute to sustainability.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES FOR COMPANY CARS

Several members of our staff are supplied with electric vehicles. Furthermore, these cars are charged on site using solar power for even greater sustainability

EVision Electric Vehicles is our sister company and is the UK’s first and largest pure electric vehicle rental company. They provide electric vehicles to the UK. Check them out today to consider how you can promote sustainability in your workplace.

BENEFITS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Electric cars produce zero emissions, which helps to reduce air pollution and improve air quality. They are quieter than traditional cars, reducing noise pollution. Not requiring fuel they reduce our dependence on foreign oil promoting energy efficiency.
